Lee County Industrial Development Association Executive Director Kevin Marx said, “Rural communities in Illinois are challenged by population loss and economic disinvestment.

Mayor Arellano understands the need for proactive local government planning and investment that supports economic development and grows jobs that keep residents in our towns and cities.”

Dixon City Councilwoman Mary Oros said, “Li Arellano is the kind of guy that will outwork everyone in the room. He has the unique ability to see ten steps ahead, which allows you to be proactive instead of reactive. In government-land, that is a rare and coveted skill set. He is without a doubt the best candidate to represent our region in Springfield.”

Endorsing in his personal capacity, Jeremy Englund (Dixon Chamber of Commerce and Dixon Mainstreet) said of Arellano, “Li’s deep knowledge and strong leadership has had a huge impact on generating new regional economic development, including the execution of successful projects that had been attempted for decades. I’ve worked on many of these projects with Li, and he is an absolute difference-maker.”

Jason Anderson was direct and emphatic: “Mayor Arellano is a proven leader who gets results.”

Arellano said, “I am honored to have the endorsement of Illinois Chamber Action, and I deeply appreciate the support from so many of our region’s economic development leaders. They have seen my work and know I will work tirelessly for development in our region and our state. Economic growth is the key to lowering taxes while protecting key public services!”

In addition to serving as Dixon Mayor, Arellano also serves on the Lee County Industrial Development Association (LCIDA) Board, the Lee/Ogle Enterprise Zone Board and helps lead the City of Dixon’s economic development team. He has also been chosen by his fellow mayors to serve on the Illinois Municipal League board. During his tenure as Dixon’s Mayor, Arellano initiated projects along the Rock River and also along I-88, which expanded the city’s industrial park and increased commercial zoning.

Arellano is currently serving in his second term as Mayor of Dixon. During his time in office, he has championed fiscal responsibility, invested in local infrastructure, and focused on the region’s economic development. Under Li’s leadership, Dixon has kept property taxes capped at or below inflation, stopped new tax proposals, maintained no general obligation debt, paid down pension debt, and helped rebuild the city’s finances.

In addition to serving as Mayor of Dixon, Li owns multiple small businesses throughout the 74th District. He has ownership in Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich restaurants in Dixon and Rock Falls, Frosted Spoon Frozen Yogurt in Rock Falls, and a small commercial leasing company.
