GOP Leaders Endorse Li Arellano for State Representative

State Representative Tom Demmer, Former State Senator Tim Bivins, and Lee County Treasurer Paula Meyer Endorse Arellano for IL-74 House Seat

Dixon, IL—Today, Dixon Mayor and Republican candidate for the Illinois General Assembly in House District 74, Li Arellano, announced endorsements from incumbent State Representative Tom Demmer, Former State Senator Tim Bivins, and Lee County Treasurer Paula Meyer.

Li Arellano is currently serving in his second term as Mayor of Dixon. During his time in office, he has championed fiscal responsibility, invested in local infrastructure, and focused on the region’s economic development. Under Li’s leadership, Dixon has kept property taxes capped at or below inflation, stopped new tax proposals, maintained no general obligation debt, paid down pension debt, and rebuilt the city finances.

Former Lee County Sheriff and State Senator Tim Bivins praised Arellano and said, “Li Arellano has a long history of service to his community and country, and I know he will represent us well in the Illinois General Assembly.”

In addition to serving as Mayor of Dixon, Li currently serves as a squad leader in the Army Reserves’ 317th Engineer Construction Company, served in three combat tours, and owns multiple small businesses throughout the 74th District, including Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich restaurants in Dixon and Rock Falls, Frosted Spoon Frozen Yogurt in Rock Falls, and he also owns a small commercial leasing company.

Incumbent State Representative Tom Demmer said, “As a member of the Army Reserves, a small business owner, and mayor, Li Arellano understands the challenges our state faces, and he knows how to fight for what’s right. I’ve been glad to work with Li on countless projects for our area, and he’s been a strong advocate for jobs, public safety, and community improvement. I know he’ll bring that same work ethic to serve us in Springfield.”

Li began working when he was just 12 years old. Having extensive work experience as a young man and now as a business owner, Li understands economic growth, creating jobs, and delivering on the promise of the American Dream. Now Li wants to take his passion, knowledge, and experience to Springfield to help Illinois get back on the right track.

While endorsing Arellano, Lee County Treasurer Paula Meyer, who was previously the Finance Director in Dixon brought in to help rebuild the city’s finances after the Rita Crundwell theft was discovered, said, “Li has an excellent understanding of the financial challenges that Dixon faced, and that knowledge and experience will serve him well as he tackles the major financial challenges in Springfield.”

Arellano said, “Growing up in the 74th District, running businesses in the district, raising my family here, and serving as Dixon’s Mayor gives me a unique insight into the needs of our region. Only by working together in Springfield on the issues that people care most about will we make progress for our communities. I am laser-focused on supporting our police to ensure public safety, lowering taxes and fighting tax hikes, empowering parents by keeping politics out of the classroom, and ensuring we have honest and transparent leadership in Springfield.”
